When you come to Coimbra you have to choose, where to
live, how much you are willing to spend, what condition are appropriate for you
and how to find a room. Ok, so let’s start from the very beginning:
1)
Where?
Choosing a place should be very important for you –
believe usJ You have to decide if you want to live in the center
(close to Praca da Republica) or somewhere else. Some universities or faculties
are far away and you may prefer to live close to them. However take into
consideration the fact that your Erasmus experience is not only about studying.
Of course the localization of your flat also influences on price.
2)
How much?
Prices may vary
a lot – from 150€ even to 300€ (including
bills). Everything
depends on localization, standard and size of your room. In the center you may
find nice and cozy room for 200€ with bills included.
3)
How to find a room?
The best idea is to come to Coimbra and stay for 2-3
days in a hostel (around 12€/day) and then visit some flats. We know that you
prefer to come to fully prepared room after long trip – however you can miss a
lot of nice rooms.
When you come you can go to student organization – Ase UC ESN Coimbra (Casa da Lusofonia – on the University of Coimbra) – they will be very
happy to help you. They have list of available rooms.
If you want to find a place earlier – you can find
some on Portuguese Olx or Gabinohome, Imovirtual, Nuroa or find some useful tips and places on BeCoimbra.
4)
Some well-known names
After one year in Coimbra we heard a lot of times such
names of student houses like Castelo, Yellow House, Lemon House, Pink House and more…J
